About The Chapel

The Open Hearth is a mobile chapel headquartered in Brevard, NC.
Our fires burn for Outcasts, Misfits, Wanderers, and Dreamers
The comforting fires of Hospitality
The burning fires of Prophecy and Social Justice
The brilliant fires of Inspiration and Poetry

We are all pilgrims here, wandering in our own journeys, but we are also all connected to the Sacred.
Sit by the fire, take a sip of tea, rest, and connect with your fellow wanderers.

In these times, we all need community and rest. We all need a place that affirms that we are beloved. We need the time to gather ourselves, seek inspiration, strategize, and know that someone will always have our backs.
We strive to be a home of welcome and refuge for the dispossessed, the marginalized, and the lost.

We are affiliated with the Alliance of Baptists and share its commitment to religious freedom and repentance for the structural sins perpetuated by institutional Christianity.

Join us around the Hearth for worship, conversation, and prayers

A carved icon of brigid standing upright on a rocky ground outdoors, with a large black dog laying nearby. The background shows a grassy area, trees, a large cliff or mountain, and a partly cloudy sky.

Brigid is our Patron. She is held in reverence by all who are inspired by Celtic traditions. She is a bridge between Christianity and the wisdom traditions marginalized by the institutional church. In her there is a wild, untamed, and holy legacy that stands for love, justice, and healing. She is a guide for us in reclaiming and honoring divine movements.

Her domains are healing, poetry, smithing, and the fires of creation
Legends abound of her love of nature, protection of the innocent, healing, and midwifery.

As a saint in Christianity and a Goddess to Pagans, she is a manifestation of the sacred feminine transcending the limitations of one tradition.
