Pastor Zeb (they/them) was called to found Chapel of the Open Hearth to shepherd a Christian Mystic Community that is inclusive and justice-centered and welcomes the fullness of people’s spiritual journeys.
They are a Christian Heathen pastor. The central story of Christianity guides Zeb’s life. That our path to the divine is found in solidarity with the most oppressed and marginalized, that we are called to feed and welcome the outcasts, and that we are willing to be persecuted by empire. Zeb is a heathen because when the church became stifling and unsafe, Zeb found healing and supportive spiritual communities among the witches, the punks, the street kids, the queers. It was in those wild and marginalized places that Zeb first experienced love and solidarity being practiced.
Zeb holds a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Social Change from Starr King School for the Ministry - a multireligious seminary in California. Zeb is pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry from Eden Theological Seminary with a focus on Arts, Spirituality, and Social Justice.
Zeb can usually be found beside a waterfall, tending a campfire, or dreaming of more liberative and engaging ways to be the church.
