The Undammable Flow of God’s Love, Baptizing the Ethiopian Eunuch
The Storyteller Prayed,
Abba,
You breathed life into us.
Every pulse within us is sacred.
Your blessing reverberates through us.
When we are cowed into silence,
When shame makes us small,
Help us embrace our sacred nature.
Help us open our mouths
And boldly proclaim our innate blessing.
The flow of your blessing and love cannot be dammed.
Amen.

“What is to prevent me from being baptized? Can anything stop the flow of God’s love?”
This Campfire Canon reimagines Acts 8:26–40 and the baptism of the African royal treasurer, commonly called the Ethiopian eunuch and, in later tradition, named Simeon Bakos. This story explores God's undammable love, our inherent blessing, and how we release the shame others put on us.
Campfire Canon is a cycle of contemporary, midrashic retellings created for fireside telling. These stories do not replace Scripture. They invite us to enter its sacred imagination, wrestle with its questions, and listen for what the Spirit might reveal today.
